Golf is a physically demanding sport, and a great golfer needs to stay flexible and be in great shape. The pro’s spend thousands of dollars on golf fitness trainers and coaches to help keep them on top of their game, but for me that was not a possibility. After years of complaining about my game plateauing and about being sore from playing so much I knew I had to do something about it, but after a few stretches I was lost.

A colleague of mine showed me this great tool!

fuck you haney, you couldnt fix barkley’s swing!! ill never trust you!!!

  15. JHawk 26. Jul, 2011 at 11:32 pm #

Gman6755 is right, michael breed is like a preteen on crack. My golf teacher worked with Hank Haney for 10 years, and he was with Hank the moment Tiger called Hank when he needed help. My teacher and Hank both have the same attitude, and he is one of the best teachers in the country.

Wish I could take a few lessons from Hank, his easy going manner is perfect for a golf teacher. The guy on the Golf Fix knows his stuff but I can’t take his football coach rah rah delivery.

Theres a drill to fix steep fat shots, slicing and lack of turn. First you set up normal, then turn your feet pointed towards the target and your belt buckle pointed at the target. But have your shoulders in normal postion set up to the ball. Itll be very hard to make a full back swing unless your a flexible, strong person. But this drill eliminates slices, makes you hit further, and gets rid of swaying. If you dont understand just send me a message. Its the best drill ive ever done.

I DO HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT COACHING BUT COME ON ITS NOT THAT HARD TO TEACH SOMEONE WHO IS PRETTY MUCH FLAWLESS.
i can picture hank saying, thats good tiger keeping doing what you are doing, real nice tiger. tiger knows what he is doing and what he did and didnt do with his swing just like almost anyone else

lots of things can cause fat shots , early release is one of the biggest reseans, weight moving in wrong direction or wrong timing , if you learn to hit it with the shaft leaning forward alittle it will help check out my short game lesson for a great tip i know will help, training that lets you learn with instinct it comes automatically improvement does so check it out at hitmanhawky best golf lessons on the tube and thanks hank

i usally get more out of my drive if i eat taco bell before i go and release my gas right after my x step it gives me about 50 more feet to my drive and sounds really cool plus makes it harder on the next guy who is behind you

  30. smalcome 27. Jul, 2011 at 7:33 am #

this video makes way more sense when taken along with other explanations of the “hit.” it’s really a great practice tool to help your muscle memory the way he shows the progression- working backwards from the release. I used this technique today for the first time (I’ve played for 2.5 years) and added significant distance to my drives- on one hole I threw past the basket- which I’ve never done (uphill over 330ish).

I’m definitely going to throw multiple practice shots like this every day unt

@Dynikus Don’t know about those particular discs, not going to pretend that they’re good or bad for a beginner because honestly I’ve never used them. When I started out though I really liked the Innova champion Roadrunner. Not the furthest driving disc but it has excellent control, after a while you’ll throw some gorgeous looking S curves. Highly recommend it for a beginner.

  32. drinkingpoolwater 27. Jul, 2011 at 7:45 am #

    @Adamhholloway LOL.

  33. schmoiedog 27. Jul, 2011 at 7:54 am #

@Dynikus Good set, but I would also include a Polaris LS or a Monarch both no heavier than 172. Crazy that guys don’t take weight into consideration when recommending a disc. If you are a beginner, avoid the heavy drivers. I love my Comet and have used it for 10 years, although I’m thinking about replacing it with a Buzz this year. If you like the way it flies (straight with little fade), you’ll love the Polaris for drives.

cant wait to go tomorrow. i have been struggling ever since i started playing with high and to the left (im a righty). i have gotten way better but still thats the biggest flaw in my swing. if you look at 3:46 thats what i do to some extent. need to put weight forward!! thanks

  38. Dynikus 27. Jul, 2011 at 10:07 am #

Would a DX valk, elite X comet, and soft wizard be a good set for a beginner?

  39. Cadams7 27. Jul, 2011 at 10:27 am #

@Adamhholloway Form isn’t about where the disc goes.

  40. Adamhholloway 27. Jul, 2011 at 10:38 am #

EPIC FAIL for not showing where the disc goes. For all I know he lost all the discs in the woods…

  41. 1Superhulk 27. Jul, 2011 at 11:31 am #

@burdette899 When you throw with your arm extended from your chest you will create more of an anhyzer shot rather than a straight shot at times depending on your arm length.

  42. themoderateextremist 27. Jul, 2011 at 12:27 pm #

@joeveenpresents thanks, that actually helped me. I got a firebird and valkrie. Waitin on the t-bird. There is one hole at my local that demands a straight long throw followed by a sharp fade, the firebird fits the bill perfectly. Also, the valkyrie is consitently my longest disk when throwing in the field. When I switch to side arm, it often ends in a roll for even more distance.

  43. jewelfewel 27. Jul, 2011 at 12:53 pm #

@ticonderoga8000 I own a few Wraiths and they are by far the best distance driver I’ve thrown. It took me a while to figure out how to throw it and they require a little more power if you want them to really fly. After you learn to throw them properly it becomes very fun. I don’t think they are the best disc for beginners, tho. I also use a Valkyrie which is perfect for beginners just starting to play and looking for max distance. If you guys haven’t picked up a putter, definitely do so.

  44. themoderateextremist 27. Jul, 2011 at 1:53 pm #

Good video. I still have trouble, it all happens so fast. I need more practice. When I try to grip the darn thing right, I launch it to 2′o’clock sometimes, and I’ve noticed, since I started gripping right, my disks take an entirely different flight path, and that takes some getting used to.

  45. milow369 27. Jul, 2011 at 1:55 pm #

This video has transformed my backhand technique, it has taken my throw to another level and it’s provided free and without ads.

I don’t know if my technique will ever look as good as Dan’s but I’m throwing stronger, more accurately, and more consistently as a result of this 6+ minute video. My run up and tempo are also greatly improved.

If you commit to this method, you will see results.

    Thanks Dan!

Just wondering if anyone has some commentary on discs. My friends and I went and bought discs today and played for the first time ever. We based our discs mostly on looks and price.

    I bought a Starfire Distance Driver – $8.99
My second friend got a Wraith Distance Driver – $8.99
and my last friend bought a Leopard Fairway Driver – $8.99

We didn’t find out until later that his leopard was a fairway driver and ours were both distance. Any kind of input is welcome.

this video is the best video on youtube to learn how to throw your disc…i watched this video probably like a month and a half ago and now i can throw 400 feet…thanks beto!

  49. eddiejones3rd 27. Jul, 2011 at 3:16 pm #

@burdette899 that looked like it was just a starting position to practice the technique keeping it close to your chest, so your arm will be used to being that close to the chest through the pull through from the reach back
